Notice To California Residents

More details

Pursuant to California Civil Code Section 1798.83, residents of the State of California have the right to request from companies conducting business in California a list of all third parties to which the company has disclosed certain categories of personal information during the preceding year for the third parties' direct marketing purposes and the categories of personal information the company shares. Alternatively, the law provides that a company that has a privacy policy that provides consumers with choice regarding sharing personal information with third parties for those third parties' direct marketing purposes may instead provide information on how to exercise that choice. Claire's qualifies for the alternative option; it has a comprehensive privacy policy that sets forth that Claire's provides you choice prior to sharing your personal information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes. If you do not consent at the time Claire's offers that choice, Claire's does not share your information with that identified third party for its direct marketing purposes.

If you are a California resident and you have questions about our practices with respect to sharing information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes and your ability to exercise choice, please send your request to the following email address: customerservice@claires.com, or write to us at the following mailing address: Claires.com, Customer Services
2400 W. Central Rd., Hoffman Estates, IL 60192
Attn: Corporate Attorney

You must put the statement "Your California Privacy Rights" in the subject field of your e-mail or include it in your writing if you choose to write to us at the designated mailing address. You must include your name, street address, city, state, and zip code. We are not responsible for notices that are not labeled or sent properly, or do not have complete information. Please note that we are only required to respond to one request per customer each year.

For more information about our privacy practices, including when your information may be shared with third parties for purposes other than the direct marketing use by third parties, please review our privacy policy below.

Claire's Children's Online Privacy Policy

More details

Generally, the Site is a general audience web site. However, the Site may offer certain features that collect personal information and are available to children younger than age thirteen. In those cases, Claire's and the Site follow this Children's Online Privacy Policy.

Collection Of Information

Claire's does not generally collect personal or individually identifying information (for example, first and last name, mailing address or telephone number) from "Children," who are visitors younger than age thirteen. However, on occasion, Claire's may collect Personal Information from Children as follows:

(1) Claire's may collect first name and online contact information (typically, an e-mail address) of a Child:

(a) for one-time use of that information, such as to respond directly to a Child's specific request (for example, answering a Child's question submitted through the Site or allowing the Child to enter a sweepstakes). After the Child's online contact information is used to fulfill the specific one-time purpose, we will delete the online contact information from our records and will not use it to re-contact the Child;

Or

(b) in order to respond more than once to a specific request from a Child (for example, an online newsletter subscription). However, prior to contacting the Child more than once, the Site will provide the Child's parent or legal guardian (collectively, "Parent") notice of the nature of the collection, the ability to refuse use of their Child's personal information and the ability to request the deletion of their Child's personal information.

(2) Certain features may require that a Child provide additional Personal Information in order to participate, including features that allow a Child to publish Personal Information publicly on the Site. Prior to collecting this information, we will provide the Child's Parent notice of our privacy practices and obtain the Parent's consent to the collection of the Child's Personal Information prior to collecting the information. We will not condition a Child's participation in an activity on the Site on the Child's disclosing more information than is reasonably necessary to participate in such activity.

Also, note that Claire's may collect a Child's name and online contact information for the sole purpose of any of the following: to protect the security or integrity of the Site; to take precautions against liability; to respond to judicial process; and, to the extent permitted under other provisions of law, to provide information to law enforcement agencies or for an investigation on a matter related to public safety.

In addition, the Site automatically collects information about all individuals' use of the Site whenever someone visits or interacts with the Site, as detailed above in the section Information We Collect As You Access And Use The Site

Disclosure Of Children's Personal Information

We do not disclose Children's personal information to third parties, except to service providers who provide support for the internal operations of the Site and who do not disclose or use the personal information for any other purpose. These service providers may provide support services such as hosting the Site, designing and/or operating the Site's features, tracking Site analytics or performing other administrative services. We may provide these companies with access to Children's online contact information in order for them to carry out the services they are performing for the Child on our behalf. These service providers have agreed to maintain the confidentiality, security and integrity of this personal information they obtain from us.

Parent's Rights Parents have the right to review and request that the Site delete any personal information that we have collected and retained about their Child.
