  • Why should I get my ears pierced at Claire's?

    All of our Ear Piercing Specialists are fully trained to ensure that they meet all safety regulations and requirements.

    Our ear piercing earrings are individually packaged and pre-sterilised at a state of the art facility. We use only piercing earrings with sharp posts. For increased comfort, the piercing instrument we use is both smooth and quick.

    We also offer exclusive Rapid Aftercare Lotion, which enables you to change your lobe earrings in just 3 weeks! (8 weeks for cartilage piercing.)

  • What are my piercing options?

    As well as single, pair and multiple lobe piercings, we also offer the following services:

    Dual lobe piercing - Two ear piercing specialists pierce both ears simultaneously. This is a great option for young children or anyone feeling a little nervous. We recommend booking this service with your chosen store in advance.

    Cartilage* - This is located at the top of your ear, the flat section near the natural curve of your ear. Our ear piercing specialist will talk you through the perfect placement. Age restrictions apply. Contact your local store for details.

    Nose Piercing* - Age restrictions apply. Contact your local store for details.

    *Cartilage and Nose piercing is available in selected stores only so we recommend calling your chosen store in advance.

  • Our 'touch-free' piercing instrument

    At Claire's we pride ourselves on providing a sterile and hygienic piercing service.

    All our ear piercings use a high quality Studex System 75 instrument. This means you can benefit from a system which offers:

    1. Fully disposable, single use, sterilised cartridges for hygienic and effective piercing
    2. Pre-sterilized earring cartridges which require no human contact - resulting in the highest hygiene standards
    3. The piercing instrument does not come into contact with the ear at any time, only the pre-sterilised, preloaded cartridge.
    4. The piercing back is automatically installed onto the piercing with no need to adjust after piercing - for your ultimate comfort and safety

    For nose piercings we use only a Medisept Nose Piercing System, which too uses a single use cartridge meaning the instrument does not come into contact with your skin at any point.

  • What are the age restrictions?

    All piercings are subject to age restrictions. For details, please contact your local store.

    In some cases we may need to see identification to confirm your age. In this instance we will accept the following forms of identification:

    • Drivers' license
    • Passport
    • Proof of age ID card

    Legal guardians may need to present proof of guardianship.

  • Will it hurt?

    All Claire's piercing earring posts have ultra-fine points that pierce gently and minimize discomfort. The ear piercing is fast, gentle and few people feel any discomfort.

  • What does it cost?

    Ear or Nose Piercing is FREE with the purchase of a starter kit. Starter kits are priced from €15 and include the piercing earrings or stud, and standard aftercare lotion. Ear cartilage piercing is subject to an additional charge.

 

Aftercare

  • Caring for your new piercing

    Caring for your piercing is incredibly important in order to maintain the perfect piercing.

    Most of the problems that occur post-piercing are due to poor aftercare. To avoid any issues, please follow our aftercare guidelines.

    Included in your Claire's Ear Piercing Starter Kit, you will receive a large bottle of Claire's Ear Care Lotion. This gentle lotion has been specially formulated to help soothe your newly pierced ears without stinging, burning or irritating.

    You may choose to upgrade your starter lotion and purchase Rapid after-care lotion. This EXCLUSIVE Rapid 3 Week Aftercare Lotion has a skin neutral pH to look after your skin, keeping it healthy.

    With Rapid Aftercare Lotion, you can expect to change your lobe earrings in just 3 weeks! (8 weeks for cartilage piercing.)

  • The Do's and Don'ts

    Following the simple after care steps below is one of the most important parts of your Ear Piercing experience. A copy of the Aftercare Guide will be given to you when you complete your piercing. Here are a few simple steps to follow.

    DO

    • Wash your hands thoroughly before touching your newly pierced ears and earrings
    • Clean the front and back of your piercing at least three times per day
    • Use a generous amount of the lotion on a cotton wool pad; make sure you get in between the earring and ear lobe
    • The twist! Holding the front of the earring, make sure that you turn your earrings half turns each way, two to three times per day. This will help with healing and avoid potential problems. This should be only done when cleaning the ears

    DON'T

    • Remove the butterfly or earring back during cleaning
    • Push the butterfly back on too far. The tip of the post should be covered and secured in the safety notch

  • What should I avoid?

    Always try to keep your new ear piercing free from soap, perfume and hair products. Rinsing your ears after a bath or shower will keep ears clean and earrings sparkly.

    We suggest that you avoid swimming for 24 hours after your piercing and thereafter make sure you clean your ears with your Claire's Ear Care Lotion after swimming.

    Be sure to take care when brushing your hair, exercising or sports, talking on your phone, sleeping or wearing headphones.

  • How do I care for my new Nose Piercing?

    As with ear piercing it is really important to follow an aftercare regime with any new nose piercing. At the time of piercing you will receive a large bottle of Ear Care Lotion, which is perfect for use on your new nose piercing.

    • It is necessary to wear our nose stud for 8 weeks before removal
    • The piercing site should be cleaned two to three times per day with Claire's Aftercare Lotion
    • The jewellery should be gently rotated in half turns two to three times per day
    • Avoid applying cosmetic products such as creams and make up to the area and always clean thoroughly to avoid a build of product around the site.
    • Rapid aftercare lotion is not suitable for use as Nose piercing aftercare

  • When can I change my piercing?

    A new piercing is so exciting, and we know you will be keen to try out new styles soon. It is really important that you give your ears time to heal before changing your ear piercing.

    Lobe Piercing: With standard aftercare lotion it is usually necessary to wait 6-8 weeks before changing your earrings. With Rapid Lotion you can usually change your earring after 3 weeks.

    Cartilage Piercing: For cartilage you will need to leave your piercing earring in for at least 12 weeks. With the use of Rapid Lotion you can usually change your cartilage piercing after 8 weeks.

    Nose Piercing: With standard aftercare lotion it is usually necessary to wait 8 weeks before changing your nose piercing. Rapid Aftercare Lotion is not suitable for use with Nose Piercings.

  • What do I do if I am concerned about my piercing?

    Straight after piercing it is normal for the area to feel hot and maybe a little sore.

    If, however, after 24 hours you have any swelling, redness or find the piercing painful, please seek medical advice immediately without removing your ear piercing.
