How much does it cost to get your ears pierced?

Ear Piercing is FREE with the purchase of a starter kit. Starter kits are priced from $30 and include the piercing earrings and standard After Care Solution. Ear cartilage piercing is subject to an additional charge.

Can I get my nose pierced at Claire's?

Nose piercing is available in select Quebec, CA stores.

What type of piercing instrument do you use?

At Claire's we pride ourselves on providing a sterile and hygienic piercing service.

Our ear piercing specialists use a high quality Studex System 75 instrument. This means you can benefit from a system which offers:

Fully disposable, single use, sterilized cartridges for hygienic and effective piercing.
Pre-sterilized earring cartridges which require no human contact - resulting in the highest hygiene standards.
The system uses steady pressure to pierce and are specially designed for piercing with sharp posts to pierce gently and smoothly. The piercing instrument does not come into contact with the ear at any time, only the pre-sterilized, preloaded cartridge.
The piercing back is automatically installed onto the piercing with no need to adjust after piercing - for your ultimate comfort and safety.

What are the piercing age restrictions?

All piercings are subject to age restrictions. For details, please contact your local store.

In some cases we may need to see identification to confirm your age. In this instance we will accept the following forms of identification:

Drivers' license
Passport
Proof of age ID card
Legal guardians may need to present proof of guardianship.

Does ear piercing hurt?

All Claire's piercing earring posts have ultra-fine points that pierce gently and minimize discomfort. The ear piercing is fast, gentle and few people feel any discomfort.

Can I get my birthstone as my piercing?

Absolutely! We offer a full range of beautiful birthstones in 14KT White Gold.

What is the ear piercing process?

Our piercings are safe, simple and gentle. Claire's ear piercing system requires no needles and are held to the highest hygiene standards. Our equipment is sanitized before and after every use and the instrument itself does not come into contact with the ear at any time. Instead, it is our pre-sterilized specialized piercing studs with ultra fine, sharp posts that pierce the ear.

Our ear piercing specialist cleans and marks your ears with a surgical marking pen. You and the ear piercing specialist will agree on the perfect spot, and the piercing itself is over in an instant! Afterward, your piercing specialist will coach you on how to care for your new sparkle.

What are Claire's earrings made of?

Our 14KT gold earrings are hypoallergenic, and are great for sensitive ears! We offer white gold earrings and yellow gold earrings, both of which are jeweler's quality. These fabulous options have the durability and natural beauty of all gold jewelry.

How long has Claire's been piercing ears? Do we have details on training status for each technician?

We have been piercing ears for 40 amazing years, and have pierced over 100 million ears...and counting! All associates are required to complete an extensive Ear Piercing Training Program before being considered a certified piercing specialist.

What sort of restrictions are there? Do parents need to be there for minors?

Infants will need to have a current DTaP shot, which typically takes place at 8 weeks old. Minors (under the age of 18 in the US and under the age of 16 in Canada) will need a parent or legal guardian present to sign the Claire's Ear Piercing Registry and show a government issued ID before getting started.

Do I have to book a piercing appointment?

During opening hours, stores operate piercing services* all day long, so you can visit us at anytime! Just drop by and see our piercing specialists for a consultation. Should you prefer to plan your visit, our team will happily book you an appointment; simply call your local store to find out more.

* It is important to note that we follow local guidelines closely, so some stores may operate an 'appointment only' service based on local authority requirements.

How do we train our piercing specialists?

All Claire's associates are trained in local piercing policy, practice, and procedures in order to deliver clean, hygienic and safe piercing environments. Each associate must complete "practical sign off" which means they must demonstrate excellent piercing technique prior to our piercing trainer validating the associate's certification. Our training program is certified by our partners at Studex, and our modular training program ensures our associates not only understand the policy, but that they can practically implement it as well. The key is consistency, so in addition to the initial training, all piercing specialists must ungergo refresher training on an annual basis. This means that the associates will not only attend training again but also complete another "practical sign off" giving you the extra reassurance that your piercing specialist has the most recent knowledge!

What should I avoid after my piercing?

Always try to keep your new ear piercing free from soap, perfume and hair products. Rinsing your ears after a bath or shower will keep ears clean and earrings sparkly.

We suggest that you avoid swimming for 24 hours after your piercing and thereafter make sure you clean your ears with your Claire's ear After Care Solution after swimming.

Be sure to take care when brushing your hair, exercising or sports, talking on your phone, sleeping or wearing headphones.

When can I change my piercing?

A new piercing is so exciting, and we know you will be keen to try out new styles soon. It is really important that you give your ears time to heal before changing your ear piercing.

Lobe Piercing: With standard After Care Solution it is usually necessary to wait 6-8 weeks before changing your earrings. With Rapid^™ After Care Cleanser you can usually change your earring after 3 weeks.

Cartilage Piercing: For cartilage you will need to leave your piercing earring in for at least 12 weeks. With the use of Rapid^™ After Care Cleanser you can usually change your cartilage piercing after 8 weeks.

What do I do if I am concerned about my piercing?

Straight after piercing it is normal for the area to feel hot and maybe a little sore.

If, however, after 24 hours you have any swelling, redness or find the piercing painful, please seek medical advice immediately without removing your ear piercing.
